A federal judge in Oklahoma ruled this week that certain subsidies given to buy health insurance under Obamacare should be illegal.
U.S. District Judge Ronald White ruled to decrease the number of subsidies that are given out on the grounds that the Obamacare legislation makes provisions for subsidies only in specific places.
According to a recent article in the Washington Examiner, White found that "the Internal Revenue Service improperly allowed people to receive subsidies for insurance bought on the federally run Healthcare.gov website."
This motion could be a defeat for the Obama administration, especially since the Affordable Care Act depends on large numbers of signups for its success.
This could also be the beginning of victory for conservatives who have been fighting the Obamacare movement. A ruling like this, when coupled with similar others, could catch the attention of the Supreme Court, potentially bringing its involvement.
